Are you looking for the closest beach to Disneyland? Look no further, as we’ve got you covered.

A vacation to Disneyland is undeniably fabulous. With plenty of awesome food, classic rides, and character meet and greets, it’s a trip that you and the family won’t soon forget.

However, what do you when things in the parks get a little overwhelming? I totally get it – you adore the parks, but you need a bit of a break from the hustle and bustle of Disney, right?

If that’s the case, then you might be wondering what the closest beach to Disneyland is. Well, there are actually a few beaches close to Disneyland that you can check out if you want to sink your toes into some sand. In fact, you may be pleasantly surprised at just how close Disneyland is to some of the best coastal spots in California!

To make your life easier, I’ve compiled a simple list of the closest beaches to Disneyland that you can head to from the parks in under an hour. So, without further ado, let’s dive (quite literally!) right in.

So, what is the closest beach to Disneyland?

Doheny State Beach

Palm trees upon palm trees adorn this stunning beach close to Disneyland. Located around 45 minutes from the park gates, this can certainly be considered one of the closest beaches to Disneyland.

Though this isn’t really a hotspot for couples, it’s great for families with kids due to the number of activities on offer (and lifeguards on duty – phew!). If you happen to be one of those sporty types (I commend you highly), then you can play a spirited game of volleyball on the volleyball courts at this beach.

Seal Beach

Seal Beach is another one of the closest beaches to Disneyland as it is only 30 minutes from the park. If you’re wondering why this beach is called Seal Beach, then I can quickly set the record straight.

Way back in the day, seals used to swim off the coast of California right around this area. You won’t see many of them around these days, but it’s certainly an interesting piece of trivia! What I love about Seal Beach is the fact that you can really make a day of things here. For the perfect day, I recommend spending the afternoon on the beach and then heading to the shops and restaurants once the sun goes down.

closest beach to Disneyland

Balboa Island

If you’re visiting the parks with family, then we recommend putting Balboa Island on your list of the top beaches near Disneyland. This beach is family-friendly, and it’s got a kids’ play area, plenty of activities, and even an arcade on offer! It’s only 30 minutes from the parks too, so it’s absolutely one of the closest beaches to Disneyland.

closest beach to Disneyland

Huntington State Beach

Huntington State Beach is another one of the closest beaches to Disneyland that we recommend checking out. Though you can head to Huntington City Beach, I feel that Huntington State Beach is on the quieter side and is generally better for families.

If you happen to be visiting during the summer months, you’ll find awesome food being sold on the beach. So, if you’re a hot dog fanatic or love cool ice cream, you’ll be covered! There’s a great trail to check out near the beach too, so if you happen to have a bike, it’s a great way to spend an afternoon.

Crescent Bay

Crescent Bay is a stunning spot that you should attempt to visit on a break from Disneyland. Only 30 minutes from the parks, it’s one of the closest beaches to Disneyland. Though it only runs for a quarter of a mile, it’s lovely. With bright blue waters, soft sands, and even seals and sea lions to spot, it’s a beach near Disneyland that’s a total must-visit.

Oh, if you fancy it you can even grab some snorkelling equipment and explore the bay! Cool, right?

Newport Beach

Newport Beach is probably the closest beach to Disneyland. As it’s only 26 minutes away, it’s basically on the doorstep of the parks! This is a slightly fancier beach than some of the others on our list, so it may be better suited to couples or small adult groups.

If you have a bit of cash to splash, then I recommend booking into one of the fine dining restaurants here. Trust me, you won’t be disappointed.

closest beach to Disneyland

Main Beach

Only 30 minutes from the parks, Main Beach is not only one of the closest beaches to Disneyland, but one of the best! This picturesque beach is lovely to look at, but what makes it special are the activities on offer here.

With everything from volleyball to swimming on offer at this beach, you’re sure to have a jam-packed day of fun on the cards.

San Clemente Beach

One of my favorite beaches close to Disneyland is San Clemente Beach. It’s about 45 minutes from the parks, but genuinely feels as though it’s worlds away. What I think is special about this beach is the level of privacy that you can get. As there are so many cliffs around, there are tons of places at which to set up camp for the day.

Don’t worry – you won’t be disturbed!

closest beach to Disneyland

Victoria Beach

If you happen to have a kid who’s crazy about Pirates of the Caribbean, then you need to visit Victoria Beach. There’s a strange-looking tower here that has been deemed a “pirate” tower by visitors. Trust me when I say that kids just love to clamber all over this, so I highly recommend adding this beach to your list of the top beaches closest to Disneyland if you can.

Just be sure to get to this place before peak times, as getting a decent parking spot can be like trying to captain the Black Pearl.

Seriously.

Bolsa Chica State Beach

Bolsa Chica State Beach in the Huntington Beach area is only 30 minutes from Disneyland, so it’s perfectly placed for a cheeky beachside getaway. If you aren’t locked into any accommodation or are an annual pass holder, it’s worth considering staying onsite at their large RV camp.

Not only is Bolsa Chica State Beach one of the closest beaches to Disneyland, but it’s also one of the best out there in terms of activities. Offering kite surfing, plenty of cycle paths, and even rollerblading, it’s the perfect place to get stuck into outdoor fun!

disneyland beaches

I hope that this list detailing the closest beaches to Disneyland has been helpful.

As you can see, there are plenty of sandy spots to check out on a well-deserved break from the House of Mouse. So, relax, kick back, and enjoy the sun!
