The Princess and the Frog is one of my all-time favorite Disney movies as I just love the New Orleans setting.

I mean, beignets, jazz, and one of the strongest Disney princesses of all time? You just can’t fault it.

And with an impressive worldwide gross of $271 million, it was a huge animated success for the Walt Disney Company.

But what makes this movie particularly special is the incredible writing and the excellent jokes.

From clever quips for those adult viewers to wonderful songs for kiddos, this movie truly has it all.

So, if you want to relive those trips to the Louisiana Bayou – stick with me.

I’ve gathered up a list of the best Princess and the Frog quotes that’ll inspire you to follow your heart.

Now let’s do this!

Princess and the Frog Summary

The Princess and the Frog follows the story of Tiana (played by Anika Noni Rose) who dreams of owning her own restaurant.

She’s a working-class woman who lives in New Orleans and spends her days waitressing in the city.

When she comes across an amphibian who promises to give her whatever she wants, she falls for it.

And as a result, she turns into a frog too!

The movie then follows Prince Naveen (AKA: the frog!) and Tiana as they navigate the bayou to find Mama Odie.

This voodoo priestess is said to hold the answers they need to become human again.

Will they become human again? Will the witch doctor Facilier win out? What about the blooming love story?

Well, you’re going to have to watch the movie to find out!

Princess and the Frog Characters

Tiana

Tiana (later Princess Tiana!) is the main protagonist in The Princess and the Frog.

She’s an extremely gifted cook and lives in New Orleans during the jazz age of the 1920s.

Despite working incredibly hard to save every cent, Tiana can’t afford to buy a restaurant of her own.

Although she’s not a dreamer, she naively falls for Naveen’s trick (which involves sharing a kiss!).

As a result, she falls foul to the Voodoo Man’s (AKA: Dr. Facilier) spell and also falls victim to a curse.

Tiana is the first African American Disney princess and is incredibly tenacious.

She’s also resourceful and talented, but she struggles with being uptight and obsessive about her dream.

And that’s what makes her the perfect foil for Naveen – who’s anything but.

Naveen

Prince Naveen is the secondary protagonist of the film and is the eldest prince of Maldonia (not a real place!).

He’s charming and handsome but lacks direction.

Yep, he spends his whole life freeloading off his parents who want him to marry and finally get a grip.

So, they threaten to cut him off if he doesn’t stop his excessive partying.

This spoiled and lazy prince isn’t particularly endearing at first.

But he quickly gains the audience’s favor with his quick wit and eventual romantic side (just watch and see!).

Dr. Facilier

Dr. Facilier is the antagonist of The Princess and the Frog and is a voodoo witch doctor.

He’s also called the Shadow Man, just FYI!

He comes from a poor background and resents the rich fat cats in New Orleans.

So, he wants to use the help of his “Friends on the Other Side” to rule the city by tricking desperate locals.

As you might expect, he’s scheming, but has a charming and smooth-talking demeanor.

It’s no surprise he manages to get so many people to agree to his terms.

Ray

Ray is an adorable Cajun firefly who’s known for his romantic love for a star called Evangeline.

He’s a hopeless romantic but he’s certainly got a fun-loving side too!

Despite being a tiny creature, he fights a fair fight and helps the protagonists fight off the shadow demons.

He’s also eccentric and excitable, which often shows up in his language!

Louis

Louis is a supporting character in the film and he’s a trumpet-playing alligator who’s desperate to join the jazz scene.

But as he’s an actual alligator, that clearly hasn’t gone well in the past.

He’s funny, sassy, and not at all like the other fiery alligators who try to attack the frogs at the start of the movie.

He’s a bit of a coward (think the Cowardly Lion!) but overall, he’s upbeat and loving.

Mama Odie

Mama Odie is a wise old woman who lives in the Bayou (she’s 197 years old and blind!).

Despite a few physical setbacks, this voodoo priestess is all about learning to dig a little deeper.

And by that, she means that beauty is more than skin deep and there’s always something beneath the surface.

She knows that Naveen and Tiana want to be human, but she encourages them to look for more.

Charlotte

Charlotte La Bouff is a relatively minor supporting character in The Princess and the Frog.

But her quippy one-liners, Southern Belle vibe, and kindness toward Tiana make her one of the story’s best characters.

Her father is the richest man in New Orleans (Big Daddy La Bouff) and Charlotte is desperate to marry a prince.

As a result, she sets after Prince Naveen as soon as she hears he’s coming to town.

Although she’s quite self-centered and vain, Charlotte still has an incredible heart.

She’s certainly a bit of a ditzy and impulsive character though!
