Are Disneyland Tickets Transferable? The Ultimate Guide!

March 6, 2023

Have your plans to visit Disneyland suddenly changed? If so, you might be wondering “are Disneyland tickets transferable?”. Read ahead for everything you need to know about ticket transfers, moving dates, and gifting tickets!

Look – I totally get it.

You’ve been looking forward to the ultimate trip to the Happiest Place on Earth but your plans have changed last minute.

Luckily, even the House of Mouse understands that life happens and you might need to change your tickets (or give them away!).

So, if you’ve been asking yourself “are Disneyland tickets transferable?”, I’ve got literally everything you need to know.

Plus, I’ll show you just how you can change your plans (and tickets!) with a step-by-step guide.

Now let’s get to it.

Are Disneyland Tickets Transferable?

You can transfer a Disneyland ticket, but it does depend on whether you have already used it.

A lot of people try to get into the parks for a couple of days with a multi-day ticket before assigning it to someone else.

But unfortunately, you just can’t do this as your ticket becomes non-transferable as soon as it’s used once.

You might think you can get around this by being sneaky, but your photo is snapped when you first enter the park.

And every time the ticket is used after that, Cast Members will be carefully checking that the person using the ticket matches the first entrant.

If your photo doesn’t match the ticket, you won’t be able to get into the parks!

This is designed to reduce the number of people getting into the park with multi-day tickets – and it works!

Are Disneyland tickets transferable: can you give a multi-day ticket to someone else for remaining days?

As I briefly mentioned, you won’t be able to give a Disney ticket to someone else if you’re leaving early or don’t use all of your days.

You can’t do it at the gate, on the My Disney Experience App, or literally anywhere else.

Once it’s used, it’s used.

Are Disneyland Tickets Transferable to Another Date?

Okay, you can transfer Disneyland (or World!) tickets to another date as long as you haven’t entered the parks yet.

If you’re using a multi-day ticket, your ticket will be valid for the number of days you’re visiting from the first gate scan.

If you need to transfer your tickets to another date, you need to log into your Disneyland account and change the date of your park reservation.

You’ll then want to go to My Disneyland and Ticket and Reservation Details before clicking “Cancel Reservation”.

You’ll want to take a look at the availability calendar before canceling your tickets. After you’ve canceled, you can use your existing tickets to pick new dates.

If you haven’t linked your tickets to a Disneyland account, you’ll want to do the following:

1: Head to the My Disney Experience App

2: Find “Tickets and Passes”

3: Select “Link Tickets and Passes” and put in your ticket confirmation codes to successfully link each ticket.

This should be on your ticket confirmation emails, but you can always get in touch with Disney if you can’t find them!

Can You Add Disneyland Tickets to Apple Wallet?

If you don’t want to transfer your Disney tickets but want them on your Apple Wallet, then this is possible.

But only at Disney WORLD!

If you happen to be visiting Disney World, then you should go to the My Disney Experience App.

Then, you should log into your account before opening Disney MagicMobile Pass from the App Store.

You then need to tap this to set up your pass and select the passes you want to add.

You should then get a handy icon that lets you “Add to Apple Wallet”.

As a bonus, anything that’s added to your MagicMobile Pass will automatically appear on your Apple Watch (handy, right?!).

When it comes to using your Apple Wallet at Disney World, just hold the top of your iPhone or Apple Watch to the contactless ticket reader.

You should then be able to access the parks.

How Can You Transfer Disneyland Tickets?

Okay, now that you know you can transfer unused tickets, you might be wondering how to do it.

Don’t worry – I’ve got you covered.

The first thing you’ll need to do is make sure you’ve registered and linked your tickets to your Disneyland account.

Once you’ve done this, you need to manually add the name and details of the person you want to give your tickets to onto a Family and Friends list.

This will make it super easy to transfer your Disneyland tickets.

To do this, just open your My Disney Experience App, add the name of the recipient to the list, and prepare to get the transfer started.

Just FYI, the tickets you’ve added should be under “My Reservations” and you should be able to choose “Reassign Ticket” to the person you’ve added.

If you run into any issues, get in touch with the ticket office at Disney (you can reach them at(714) 781-4636!) – they’ll know what to do!

If you don’t want them to go through the process of linking the tickets, you can print off the barcodes for the tickets (+ QR code!). You can then offer your recipient the hard copies to take to the gates.

And if you need to double-check whether they have access to park reservations, just navigate to the “Future Plans” section of their account.

Just warn the person you’re transferring tickets to that once they pass through the gates – the tickets are only theirs!

Can You Transfer Disneyland Annual Passes (Magic Key Passes)?

As annual passes are specifically purchased by and registered to you, you cannot transfer them or get a refund.

But that’s only if you have used them!

If you haven’t used your annual pass yet, you can reassign your Annual Pass through the My Disney Experience App (like the tickets!).

The process is exactly the same – you just need to go to “My Reservations”, and then“Reassign Ticket”. You can then choose who to transfer the ticket to from your Family and Friends list.

Unfortunately, if you’ve already used it (even once!), the annual pass is officially yours.

How to Gift Disneyland Tickets

If you’re purchasing tickets as a gift (which is seriously magical!), then it’s relatively easy to do.

You can gift everything from regular theme park tickets to Magic Key Passes depending on how much cash you have.

And if you want to gift merch, you can get your pals a Disney Gift Card!

If we’re talking park passes, let me fill you in.

The first thing you’ll need to do is select dates for a park reservation before gifting your tickets. This will ensure they’ll have park entry on chosen days.

But if you’re not sure what dates they’ll be looking at, a Disney Gift Card is definitely the right choice.

When you’re checking out, you’ll want to check “this order will be a gift” under the Guest Information tab.

You’ll then need to put in the correct legal name that enables your guest to pick their tickets up at the parks.

You should receive an email confirmation with a valid gift receipt that you can send over to the lucky giftee. Just make sure they print these tickets out or have them ready to show on a valid device.

Oh, and some confirmations can take up to 24 hours to come through – so, don’t panic if you don’t receive anything right away.

When your guest is ready to visit Disneyland, they’ll need to stop by a ticket booth and show their gift receipt and valid photo ID.

It’s so important that the legal names match, or they will be denied entry to the parks.

For obvious reasons, adults will also be required to pick up tickets for children and anyone under the age of 18.

Final Thoughts

Luckily, you can transfer Disneyland tickets if you need to.

Just remember that you can’t change the ownership of a ticket once it’s been used for the first time.

Otherwise, you shouldn’t have an issue if you need to transfer your Disneyland tickets to anyone else!

There you have it: all the information you’ll need to answer the question “are Disneyland tickets transferable?”.

As you can see, there’s a bit more to the process than meets the eye. But there’s no need to let a change of plans affect your trip to the most magical place on earth!
